History

Aberthau Mansion, previously known as Rear House, is a spacious heritage mansion in Tudor Revival style. It is located on West 2nd Avenue at Northwest Marine Drive in Vancouver. Aberthau was the first notably large residential property in the municipality of Point Grey designed by Samuel Maclure. Since 1974, the mansion has been home to the West Point Grey Community Centre.

Although I hope to be able to return sometime in the future, in the meantime, I am more than pleased to follow your suggestion and put down on paper the record of my recollections from the time of my stay there in 1953. Even though some are vague and possibly lacking in precision, others are still vivid in my mind and more accurate.
