President’s Message – Winter 2026

Dear patrons,

As we transition to winter programming, the West Point Grey Community Centre Association (“WPGCCA”) is pleased that this is the 54th year that we have been jointly operating the West Point Grey Community Centre with the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation (“Park Board”) since 1972. In 2018 we signed a new Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) to strengthen our relationship The WPGCCA Board appreciates all of our wonderful hardworking community centre staff, and we look forward to working with them on another great season of Community Centre programs, including new and return favourites.

Centre Highlights:

  • Summer Day Camp Streamline Registration – To enhance customer service, the Summer Day Camp registration process will be streamlined beginning in 2026. Registration for Summer Camps only will open on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 7:00pm for online and in-person, Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 10:00am for phone-in.
  • Refund and Cancellation Policy changes – please take a moment to review our new policies.
  • Due to the ongoing leaks and the outdated life expectancy of the roof, the City of Vancouver has decided to complete the capital replacement of the roof at Aberthau Mansion, and the Pottery Studio building. The project is currently underway and is expected to be completed by April 2026.
  • The Gym Building is now opening earlier at 7:30am, Monday through Friday, providing extended access for all members.

Program Highlights:

  • Get creative with Kylee in Kids Hand Building: Clay Creations! Learn foundational clay techniques while designing your own imaginative works of art.
  • Calling all Latin dancers and enthusiasts! Join us for our Intro to Latin Dance: Salsa, Mambo, and Bachata, taught by a professional dance leader. Sharpen your dance techniques and dance in style!
  • Join us for a Career Preparation Workshop designed to help students build confidence and essential skills for entering the workforce. Students will review the fundamentals of resume and cover letter writing, receive personalized feedback on their current documents, and learn key techniques for successful interview preparation.
